The Registration FEE is $25; IECA Northeast Chapter and Soil & Water Conservation Society members, as well as government/nonprofit employees, pay the discounted rate of $15. The fee includes a box lunch. The fee also includes transportation to the beach for the tour for anyone who registered by June 10th (the first 48 people to sign up).
Walk-Ins are welcome, up to the capacity of the auditorium. The fee will not include transportation to the beach tour, and may or may not include a box lunch - I've ordered a few extra lunches and most events have some no-shows, but there is no guarantee.
Payment must be made by CHECK or MONEY ORDER, payable to Northeast Chapter IECA. Sorry, no credit cards.
PARKING PASSES will be provided with your confirmation and must be displayed on the dashboard or you will be towed; the pass is also posted below.
The box lunches will be a selection of traditional deli sandwiches with either cole slaw or pasta salad, a cookie and beverage (soda, water, iced tea or lemonade).
If you are vegetarian or have other special dietary needs, please contact Christine Odiaga at (508) 946-2836 or no later than NOON on Monday June 16th.

DIRECTIONS to URI Kingston Campus and to the Coastal Institute
Weaver Auditorium is located in the Coastal Institute, at 1 Greenhouse Road, Kingston, RI.
From the north, take I-95 South to Exit 9 (Route 4 South) in RHODE ISLAND, follow Route 4 to Route 1 South. Stay on Route 1 until the intersection of Route 138 West. Route 138 West will bring you to the University (~3.8 miles).
From the south, take I-95 North to Exit 3A (Route 138 East). Continue east on Route 138 to the University.
From I-195 - the scenic route through Jamestown and Newport is lovely but doesn't save any time because the speed limits vary widely (goes down to 20 mph in one spot) and there are abundant speed traps. If you tend to be a lead-foot like me, it's safer and about the same drive time to go to I-95.
But if you want some lovely views - Take I-195 to Route 24 South to Route 114 S to Route 138 West. Cross Route 1 and proceed to the traffic Signal with the URI sign (~3.8 miles).
Once on Route 138, turn north at the traffic signal where you see the URI sign (right turn from 138 W, left turn from 138 E) - this is Upper College Road. Go straight through one stop sign, through a set of stone pillars and past the Visitors Center (Bldg 107, D6) on your right. Take the 3rd right at the Fine Arts Center (Bldg 41, A6) on Bills Raod - there's a big sign, you won't miss it. The Visitor's Parking Lot is just past the Fine Arts Center on the left.
DO NOT FORGET TO DISPLAY YOUR PARKING PASS ON THE DASHBOARD, OR YOU WILL BE TOWED
Walk from the parking lot back towards the Fine Arts Center and turn right onto Upper College Rd. Take a quick left onto East Alumni Ave and then the 1st right onto Greenhouse Rd. The Coastal Institute is on the left; enter through the doors on the far end (near Flagg Rd.). On the campus map posted at http://www.uri.edu/home/visitors/Map/kingston.pdf, the Coastal Institute is Building 13 in section A-5. This is an ~ 5 minute walk.
|
If you did not receive a parking pass via e-mail with confirmation of your registration, or if you plan to walk in, please use the parking pass posted to the right. There is a map of URI Kingston Campus on the back, with the Coastal Institute and the Visitor's Parking Lot that we're supposed to use circeld in red. Note: you must enter this lot from Bills Road because there's a line of jersey barriers separating the lower portion that we're supposed to use from the rest of the lot.
